Economic Impact

Since 1992, the SEC incubator network has incubated 111 businesses.  SEC facilities currently house 29 clients that employ 378 individuals.  Collectively, SEC clients and graduates have created just under 1,500 jobs.

The SEC has proven to be a major part of the Shoals area economic development team.  The University of North Alabama School of Business recently conducted an economic impact study for 2006.  The study indicated that in 2006 alone, SEC clients and graduates provided:

  • Expenditure effect of $98 million for the Shoals Economy
  • Sales tax impact of $5.3 million
  • Alabama State Income Tax of $2.01 million
